TOPIC: THE ORIGIN OF THE MYSTERY OF FAITH
Scripture : Romans 10: 17. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter. Yesterday, we established that faith is a mystery! And we went on to explain why is it a mystery. Today, we shall be looking at how the mystery of faith originated?
What is faith?
I will like to compare translations here:
Hebrews 11: 1. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. KJV
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1 NIV
Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

According to scriptural definition of faith above, one thing is common to all the translations and that is the word “assurance” and “evidence.” So if what you are professing is faith, there must be an assurance and there must be evidence.
Now there are so many things people do and call it faith, which is not faith because if it is faith, it will always deliver results.
I will like to define faith again as action taken based on the conviction the word of God has produced in the life of a man. Hence, just believing alone is not faith, it is action taken based on what you believe.
If you believe and take no action, then it is not faith. Your believing must be strong enough to produce a conviction that leads to action. This is why the Bible said:
James 2: 20. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
‘Works’ here speaks of action taken to prove your conviction. For example, your salvation is incomplete when you only believe in your heart! You must open your mouth to declare the Lordship of Jesus over your life before you’re saved:
Romans 10: 9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Similarly, faith for healing is not complete until backed up with action! For example, the woman with the issue of blood believed Jesus in her heart and she backed up her action by touching the helm of Jesus garment and then her healing was confirmed(Mark .5:25-30).
Beloved, do you desire a victory in any area of your life, then you must take action based on what God has told you and that is Faith.
Faith therefore originates from what God has told you. If you haven’t heard anything from God, please don’t take any action. The reason why the faith of many people are failing is because they take action whereas they haven’t heard anything from God.
From our anchor scripture (Rom.10:17), we saw that faith comes only by hearing the word of God! Hence, we can conclude that the origin of Bible faith is the word of God! So, if what you are hearing is the word of God, it is capable of generating the mystery of faith. The mystery of faith is conceived and birthed by the word of God.
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real! Don’t gamble with your eternal soul, declare the Lordship of Jesus over your life today.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord help me to act on your word only and not my feelings in Jesus name.
Prophetic Declaration:
– I prophesy upon your life in any area the devil seems to be winning, the Lord is giving you victory in the name of Jesus.
– By the mystery of faith, your life is exempted from calamity and disaster in the name of Jesus.
