Stealing is a bad strategy for prosperity. Today, we have loads of people with all kinds of concepts and mindset concerning the subject of finances and prosperity which needs to be changed for us to operate fully in God’s financial system.

People believe that only corrupt people can be prosperous. I’m sure we have heard statements where people will say it is very impossible to prosper in this environment except you are corrupt.
You see young and old people today engaging themselves in fraudulent activities, justifying it and saying they have a reason why they have to engage in it but the Bible says in Ephesians 4, if you are a thief, quit stealing but use your hands for good works.
When God was forming Israel, a Nation of former slaves into a free and prosperous Nation, God gave them laws and statues summarized in ten commandments. One of the ten commandments that was given to the children of Israel was “Thou shall not steal”.
Exodus 20:15. It was written in a whole verse of Scripture. The prophet Zechariah, had a vision of what stealing does to us if we engage in it and it gave some spiritual dynamics that can be set into motion if you have a habit or lifestyle of stealing. Zechariah 5:1-4. Getting or making money illegitimately can cut short a person’s life. We have to do it right and live right. This is God’s instruction to us.
Stealing will always activate a curse that is very destructive in a person’s life. It will destroy your life, that of your family and destiny. Proverbs 13:11.

This Scripture says that it is just a matter of time before all those who are stealing today will eventually go broke. Don’t let anyone think that this wealth that you are amassing right now will be here forever.
Interestingly, even the law of man also create consequences for stealing which includes imprisonment. Although some environment just makes it very funny. That’s why some people say I will go to the jail, the money will be there resting, then I will come out of jail and continue enjoying my money.
That is one justification but the cost will never leave you. Proverbs 20:17. The devil will keep telling you you are doing so well, and you too will keep indulging in it because all you are interested in is to blow.
There are people that have told me that they just want to blow anyhow then when they make it, they will come to God. It is the bread of deceit. Ephesians 4:28 lay out a powerful financial process for all of us who have received forgiveness for our sins through Christ.
Paul established the fact that if we are going to turn our financial fortune around, we have to align ourselves with God’s financial system, and this includes stopping all forms of stealing. God’s law cannot be broken. They are the ones that have the power to break us.
Align your finances, transactions, businesses with God’s Word because the laws of God cannot be broken.
To steal means to take another person’s property without permission or legal right and without intending to return it. If we make it a normal thing or nothing so bad to steal from each other, it will soon extend to us taking people’s lives and not feeling anything.
WHY DO PEOPLE STEAL
1) Low self esteem
When you have a low self esteem, your sense of shame is so low, then you have the tendency to take another person’s thing that does not belong to you.
2) Envy
Fraudulent people envy others and justify and make a case for the stealing. They think others have too much and want to take from them.
3) They are usually under pressure to measure up to their contemporaries.
Because of societal pressure, some people have made up their mind to do anything possible to make it. Sometimes,they want to measure up to people’s expectations and live up to the Joneses. They want to show people that they have arrived.
4) They have a mental illness called Kleptomania.
Kleptomania is a recurrent urge to want to keep stealing without any economic motive. People get to the point where they have an irresistible impulse to steal regardless of if they can afford it or even need the item.
5) They are hungry
A hungry person is an angry man and a hungry person will do desperate things. Remember the lockdown, people were looting. Hunger can make you do despicable things to survive.
Stealing is a manifestation of the sin nature and you need to know that stealing is contrary to the nature of God. As children of God, we now have the love nature and we can see people through God’s eyes and you love people.
When you love people, you don’t focus on taking from them, you focus on giving to them because the proof of love is to give. For those who have the intent to impress, the question is to what extent do you want to keep impressing people? Comparison is the thief of our destiny.
Everyone has their destiny in God. It should be a principle for you to know that when you don’t have it today, it means that you do not need it now. When you need it, God will make it available. II Corinthians 10:12. Have absolute trust in God to provide for your needs. Psalms 37:25.
We have a collective responsibility to ensure that people don’t sink so low and become so desperate to survive and this is why the economy of our Nation should be designed such that people can create jobs and good salaries can be paid. James 5:1-4.
We should treat each other well. We must understand our weaknesses and receive grace. II Corinthians 12:9.
