And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’ ?”
John 6:42 NKJV
The things of God are always difficult for the carnal mind to understand because they are beyond their realm, they live in the earth realm while God lives above; Jesus came from heaven, that is, He came from above the earth realm, because of this, the carnal people struggled to accept His words, and because His words, His sayings were too big for their comprehension, they couldn’t believe Him.
One of the things that led to their much struggle with the words of Jesus was familiarity, they knew His earthly parents and His siblings, but they didn’t know that God was His true Father, He was only allowed to come through the family of Joseph. This knowledge became a problem and an obstacle to them, when He told them that He is the bread of life which came down from heaven they were offended and began to murmur, saying, _*“Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”*_
There are many people like that today who are trying to reason and understand how Jesus is the Messiah, they don’t accept it, they will tell you that He is not different from other prophets and that He is not who He claimed to be, and because of this, they don’t accept Him as Lord and Saviour. Jesus is God, He is the Saviour, the Messiah, the one who came down from heaven to save men from their sins, this is what all men must believe and what we must tell everyone.
Don’t try to reason the things of God, just accept them the way they are said to be in His word. God is the Almighty and can do whatever He Chooses; He decided to come in the form of a man in other to be able to save man, because only in the form of a mortal man could He save man, since it was a mortal man who created man’s problem in the first place; no one should find it hard believing this.
Don’t create your own familiarity with the things of God and begin to oppose Him like the Jews did. Be like a child, just believe and keep believing the words of Jesus.
Prayer
_Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the Saviour of the world, the one who came from heaven to save men from their sins; it’s in you I have my salvation and victory over sin and Satan; thank you my Lord for saving me. Amen._
